Photographer
Kyra is a photographer who was born and raised in North Florida. She has been interested in photography since she was 11 years old. She started off taking pictures on vacations to Europe, and it soon turned into a career she wanted to pursue. She is mostly interested in landscape ad still life, but is slowly transitioning into portrait and hopes to become a wedding and sports photographer.
One of her photos was published in Florida Atlantic University's Coastlines Magazine last spring. She is working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and is planning to go to University of Florida for Sports Management in hopes to get more into sports photography.

Artist Statement
My work is a photography-based medium that heavily involves the environment and marine life. This is taking a new twist on that and bringing back old folklore of mythical sea creatures and sea mysteries.
Lurking in the Waters is a series of images that goes into what a person may think about when looking out at sea. Many people all over the world have a fear of not knowing what they are swimming with in the water. Many of these mythical creatures have had different depictions of them through different cultures, and as times change. Since only 5% of our waters have been discovered, we are always finding new objects, and we are often quick to assume that these objects found are linked to a certain mythical creature until more research and testing are done. I decided to use objects that can link to any folklore, but more specifically, the different depictions of sirens.
