GRAPHIC DESIGNER

My work is shaped by my identity as a diasporan Armenian living in South Florida. In digital design and motion graphics, I explore the experience of being raised in a tight-knit cultural community while existing within a broader, contrasting environment. As a first-generation individual, I use cultural motifs in video editing and storytelling to contrast the Floridian landscape with my ties to West Asia and the Middle East. My Armenian heritage has played a significant role in my upbringing, shaping an ongoing negotiation between cultural identity and American values.

Working across film production, motion design, and digital media, my projects extend beyond narrative into cohesive visual systems. I am particularly drawn to the rhythm and pacing of motion design as a way to evoke emotional tone. Aesthetics such as bold mid-century design, minimalism, and experimentation with high-contrast lighting support themes of displacement and cultural duality.

At its core, this work is grounded in the idea that community is formed through connection and shared understanding. Living far from my cultural background has made me feel responsible for communicating and contextualizing its history. My films function as both personal reflection and cultural translation, drawing on experiences such as boating on a childhood island, participating in community dance, and family moments in environments that evoke a sense of home. References to traditional Armenian clothing, music, and architecture reflect these narratives and the ongoing effort to sustain a connection to heritage while navigating life far from its geographical roots.
