Alessandra Campos
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
As a Peruvian American artist, my cultural background informs my visual language and shapes my interest in the relationship between tradition and contemporary design. I am drawn to tactile, process-driven approaches and take influence from designers such as Emilio Gil. A quote that has stayed with me—“no one is born knowing”—continues to guide my practice, encouraging ongoing learning and growth.
In my final year of university, I have become increasingly aware of how deeply Peruvian culture influences my work. Through projects such as murals, visual essays, and brand identities rooted in Peruvian culture, I have developed a stronger sense of curiosity and pride in my heritage while questioning how it shapes my perspective as an artist.
My work combines mixed media, ranging from digital processes to hands-on techniques, to amplify the message behind each piece. Through research and experimentation, I explore which mediums best support a concept, allowing each project to develop into its most effective form. With this approach in mind, I aim to further explore themes of cultural hybridity while helping to amplify the voices of others through book design and visual identities for independent businesses.
