Alejandra Acevedo Nisperuza
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Through illustration and design, my work merges to create a harmonious composition. I take pride in my visuals; nothing compares to the intimacy an artist has with a blank piece of paper and a pencil. This is why I seek to introduce my own work into my designs. I design around my visuals to enhance the subject. My typography serves as support for my art, and vice versa. This is a very thought-out process for me. Everything has a reason to be, even in projects where chaos seems to reign.
I take a lot of inspiration from previous artists and their work. I wish to take their style and make it mine. However, I also get inspiration from my past experiences—situations that engulf me and make me feel all sorts of emotions. Anger and love are two of those emotions that get me in the zone. Injustices in the world and how they affect me and those close to me influence my work. My roots have also been a great source of inspiration. The native people from Colombia inspire me to bring out old traditions and the culture that shaped their country.
After my research, I visualize the layout and colors that complement the way I feel. It is a simple process, but there’s a myriad of things in play. My desire is to see the world as an art of humanities, where liberal arts and science coexist without diminishing one another, allowing emotion, culture, and knowledge to exist within the same visual space.
