Peter Pham
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
My work is a series of printed posters that explore themes of self-identity created with a variety of graphic design styles. Each of these posters focus on a different aspect of my mentality as a designer, diving into themes such as change, potential, and motivation. I then create them digitally with a distinct visual style that best represents that specific aspect, ensuring that each poster differs from all of the rest.
The goal of these posters is to subvert the common belief that the field of graphic design is largely intended to be used in only corporate and business environments. By having these posters reflect something personal, it challenges that belief and becomes something more akin to traditional art, while still holding graphic design principles.
When making these posters, I must first engage in a state of deep thought, where I find a feeling that I want to share. Afterwards, I do research on various historical and modern styles to find which best represents that feeling. I then create it digitally via raster or vector software, carefully paying attention to how the information is delivered. After all, the main objective of graphic design is to present information effectively through visuals.
